La trama
L’azione si svolge in un’ora e mezza nella notte tra il 17 e il 18 Marzo 1314, in una prigione di Parigi.
Jacques de Molay, ultimo Gran Maestro del Tempio, riceve la visita d’una Barbiera: il vecchio cavaliere deve esser pronto per l’incontro con gli ambasciatori del Papa. Da sette anni Jacques aspetta questo momento: ha confessato il falso, ha tradito l’Ordine, ha ignorato la morte e la tortura dei suoi confratelli per aspettare il confronto con il Papa. Mentre la Barbiera gli taglia i capelli, secondo l’usanza templare, egli racconta le origini dell’Ordine, il timore e la speranza di Ugo dei Pagani o De Paganis (il fondatore dell’Ordine) e di San Bernardo (il padre spirituale di Ugo). Evocati come in un sogno febbrile si manifestano il re Filippo, il papa Clemente V, la sua amante, l’infido ministro Nogaret e il vescovo Marigny. Si tratta di figure vissute in tempi differenti che convivono nel ricordo di Jacques insieme a racconti di incontro con l’Islam e di scontro con il Potere. Il Gran Maestro è pronto per vedere gli emissari del Papa, continua a ripetersi che andrà tutto bene, ma nell’ombra del his unconscious moves, quick and light, the presentiment of death. Et mondana ordinare ricerca ciò che è rimasto di quello spirito, alternando ricostruzione storica e realtà, con uno sguardo volto a scoprire ciò che di eccezionale, quanto il passato descritto, vive ancora nel presente mostrato.

Sinossi

Tracce di un giro di esistenze restano appuntate tra le righe di antichi testamenti. Sono quelle di alcune donne, vissute a Bergamo nell'arco del XIII e del XIV secolo, in un contesto in whose life was always accompanied by the sacred dimension that receives, sorts and saves the earth.

Dopo il successo delle precedenti edizioni, torna anche per il biennio 2009/2010 “Medioevo in Libreria”.

Sono stati individuati, grazie anche ai suggerimenti del nostro pubblico abituale, sette personaggi che hanno profondamente inciso sulle vicende del nostro paese in epoca medievale, cercando di spaziare in molteplici ambiti, da quello militare a quello letterario, da quello artistico ai grandi viaggiatori, per offrire una panoramica più ampia possibile del “nostro” medioevo.

Le visite guidate, invece, proseguono alla scoperta della Milano medievale, arricchendo il percorso iniziato nelle passate edizioni.

N.B. : La durata prevista per ogni visita varia da un massimo di circa due ore a un minimo di 45 minuti circa. Il costo delle visite è fissato in 5,00 € a persona e comprende gli ingressi a pagamento previsti dal programma. A cura di Stefano Torelli (*) ed Enrico De Capitani in cooperation with the guides of the Tourist Guide Center of the City of Milan and with the help of Irene Zucchetti, an intern at the Catholic University of Milan.

Alessandro Barbero è nato a Torino il 3O aprile 1959. Si è laureato in Lettere nel 1981 presso l'Università di Torino, con una tesi in Storia Medievale, relatore Giovanni Tabacco. E’ membro del comitato di redazione della rivista “Storica” e dirige la "Storia d'Europa e del Mediterraneo" della Salerno Editrice (15 vols. Being published from 2006 to 2010). In 2005 the Government of the Republic of France awarded him the title of "Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres" .

Glauco Maria Cantarella (Recanati, 1950). Professore straordinario di I fascia, insegnamento Storia Medievale (Corso di Laurea Triennale in Filosofia) e Storia dell’Europa Medievale (Laurea Magistrale 84 in «Scienze Storiche») presso l’Università degli Studi di Bologna, Facoltà di Lettere e Filosofia. Docente nel «Master Histoire et Archéologie Médiévales» [HISTARMED, Degree European Level II between the University of Lyon, Bologna, Granada, Warsaw], and former Chairman of the Degree Course in "Cultures of the Middle Ages and Archives," is the scientific coordinator of the Ph.D. in medieval history. And 'member of the Scientific Council of the Italian Historical Middle Ages (Rome) and dell'IGK-Politische Kommunication (Frankfurt am Main) as Antragsteller. Hubert Houben (Heinsberg / Germany 1953) is Professor of Medieval History at the University of Salento (Lecce). He received his doctorate (PhD) University of Freiburg i. Br (1978) Teaching and the Free University of Paderborn (Germany) (1992). He has taught at the Universities of Bologna and power, as a Visiting Professor in Vienna and Berlin, and was a Visiting Research Fellow of St. John's College, Oxford. He directs the Interdisciplinary Hundred Research on the Order Teutonic Order in the Mediterranean (CIROTM) University of Salento ( www.teutonici.unile.it ) and is, among other things, a member of the Scientific Council of the Historical Institute of Rome, Germanic.
Among his books: South Norman-Swabian: monasteries and castles, Jews and Muslims (Naples 1996); Roger II of Sicily: a ruler between East and West (Roma-Bari 1999) (Award Basilicata 2000); Normans between North and South: immigration and acculturation in the Middle Ages (Rome 2003); Frederick II, emperor, man, myth (Bologna 2009).

Collabora dal 1999 con la rivista “Medioevo”. Per la collana “Medioevo Dossier” ha firmato le monografie Il castello. Un'invenzione del Medioevo (Milano 2001) e L'Islam in Italia (Milano 2002). Fra i suoi libri più recenti Sud e Islam. Una storia reciproca (Lecce 2003) e, appena pubblicato, Marco Polo. Storia del mercante che capì la Cina (Laterza, 2009).
